TECAPSY was born out of the need to provide solutions to the growing problem of traffic congestion in the European cities through the integration of digital and telematic tools in a combined control centre for carpooling. Public authorities invest money, time and effort in developing and promoting public transport systems, but comparatively very little has been done to organise car pools and practically nothing using latest information and communication technologies.     TECAPSY shows how carpooling and car parking services can be combined and integrated into the transport services available in any city or region. It provides advice and the general framework for any site seeking to introduce and operate these services.     Carpooling, on its own, already exists in several countries and is increasingly being organised. The added value for sites using TECAPSY is that it is promoted and marketed as part of the mix of transport services on offer using the most effective communications media.
